Legendary former Liverpool captain Alan Hansen is “significantly unwell in hospital”, the Merseyside membership stated in an announcement on Sunday.
Hansen gained 16 trophies throughout his 14-year spell at Liverpool, together with eight league titles, three European Cups, two FA Cups and three League Cups.
The defender, who joined Liverpool from Patrick Thistle in 1977, is within the top-10 for many appearances for the membership and has been capped 26 instances by Scotland.
“The ideas and help of everybody at Liverpool FC are with our legendary former captain Alan Hansen, who’s at present significantly unwell in hospital,” Liverpool stated of their assertion.
“The membership is at present in touch with Alan’s household to offer our help at this tough time, and our ideas, needs and hopes are with Alan and the entire Hansen household.
“We are going to present any additional updates as we obtain them sooner or later, and we request that the Hansen household’s privateness is revered presently.”
Hansen’s former “Match of the Day” colleague Gary Lineker wrote on X: “Horrendous information. Ideas are with Alan, Janet and all of the household.”
