The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to a one-year cope with quarterback Sam Darnold, sources confirmed to ESPN.
The Vikings have a gap at quarterback after longtime franchise star Kirk Cousins agreed to phrases on a four-year cope with the Atlanta Falcons on Monday.
After 5 seasons cut up between the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, Darnold signed a one-year cope with the 49ers final offseason with the hope of studying from coach Kyle Shanahan and re-establishing his worth as a possible starter.
In San Francisco, Darnold received the No. 2 job behind starter Brock Purdy, which led to a preseason commerce that despatched quarterback Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys. Darnold appeared in 10 video games, principally in mop-up responsibility, throwing for 297 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception.
Darnold began the Week 18 finale towards the Los Angeles Rams after the Niners wrapped up the No. 1 seed in Week 17. He was 16-of-26 for 189 yards and a landing in a 21-20 loss.
Initially the No. 3 general choose of the Jets within the 2018 NFL draft, Darnold spent three seasons in New York earlier than being traded to Carolina in 2021.
