8 gamers suspended for Texas A&M-Commerce, Incarnate Phrase brawl

The Southland Convention suspended eight gamers Wednesday for his or her involvement in a large faculty basketball brawl that adopted Texas A&M-Commerce’s 76-72 time beyond regulation victory at Incarnate Phrase on Monday evening.

“The Southland Convention Board of Administrators has set clear expectations for sportsmanship and conduct of our student-athletes, coaches, and spectators throughout and after competitions,” Southland commissioner Chris Grant stated in a press release. “Sadly, these expectations weren’t met on Monday evening, and the Southland Convention is not going to tolerate any unsportsmanlike conduct. I wish to lengthen our appreciation to A&M-Commerce Athletics Director Jim Curry and [Incarnate Word] Athletics Director Richard Duran for his or her unwavering partnership and diligent decision of this matter.”

In a press release Wednesday, Incarnate Phrase athletic director Richard Duren stated the college “respects the selections made by the Southland Convention.”
